DESCRIPTION EXPERIENCE

The experience begins with the tour of the Vatican chapels and the Giorgio Cini foundation and continues with a lunch either in the charming outdoor area of the San Giorgio Café facing onto the quay, or in the inside dining-room.

  • h.11am departure of audio-guided tour of the monumental complex of the Giorgio Cini Foundation, including the two cloisters, the Palladian refectory with the Wedding in Cana, the hotograph room, the Main Staircase and the Longhena Library, the Nuova Manica Lunga and the Borges Labyrinth.
  • h 12am departure of audio-guided tour in the “wood” of the island, with the Vatican Chapels, the ten chapels designed by architects from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, USA, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Chile/Serbia and Paraguay. The tour includes the introduction by H.Em. Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, the presentation of the drawings and model of the “chapel in the wood” by Asplund in the pavilion at the beginning of the itinerary, and the commentary on the ten chapels by the architects who designed them
  • h1pm lunch at the San Giorgio Café, which includes: 1 “Chef’s pasta dish” or a salad of your choice + a bowl of ice-cream + a glass of wine (or Spritz or fruit juice) + water + coffee.

For security reasons, the Foundation and the Vatican Chapels can be visited in groups of 25 people maximum, accompanied by an authorised operator.

The visit to the Vatican chapels and the Giorgio Cini Foundation is available hourly on the hour. The tour lasts about 2 hours.

The times for the visit are:

  • From 6 November to to 20 December 2020: every day except Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the hour (last departure 3 p.m.)
  • from 21 March to 5 November 2020: every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the hour (last departure 6 p.m.)

An experience tailored to the family on the island of San Giorgio, for a special day of art and relaxation. The proposal, suitable for families with children over 6 years of age, begins with the tour of the “wood” of the Island of San Giorgio in Venice and the audio-guided tour of the Vatican Chapels. It continues with lunch in the atmospheric outdoor eating area of the San Giorgio Café which faces onto the quay, or in the inner dining room. It ends with the ascent of the San Giorgio Bell Tower, from which you can enjoy the splendid high-up view over Venice and take awesome souvenir photos!

For children from 6 to 18 years of age: pasta with tomato (or with butter and parmesan), bowl of ice-cream and water or soft drink.
  • Access to the bell tower of San Giorgio, one of the tallest in the town (75 metres) and easily visitable thanks to a lift which takes you up to the bell chamber. From here you enjoy a unique view over the town, St. Mark’s basin and the surrounding lagoon. (no fixed timetable but in compliance with Bell Tower opening hours)
